How To Edit A Specific Matter In ZenCase

Overview

You can view a specific matter and edit details about any matter in ZenCase. Simply start by going to the Matters list page and search or filter for a matter. You can then click on the matter's name from the matter table. This will bring you to the matter details page.

View and Edit A Matter

From the matter details page, select a tab to view and manage your matter details.

Overview Tab

You can view and edit the overview details for your matter:

  • Matter name

  • Matter Number

  • Originator

  • Manager

  • Client

  • Description

  • Status

Details Tab

You can view and edit the following details for your matter:

  • Matter Type

  • Matter Subtype

  • Statute of Limitations

  • Jurisdiction (will display for specified matter types)

Ledes Tab

You can view and edit the LEDES details for your matter when LEDES is enabled for the firm:

  • LEDES Enabled

  • LEDES Client/Matter ID

  • Require UTBMS Codes

  • LEDES Expense Codeset

  • LEDES Activity Codeset

  • LEDES Task Codeset

  • LEDES Timekeeper Codeset

  • LEDES File Template

Billing Tab

From the billing tab, you can manage billing information for:

  • Billing Notes

  • Minimum Trust Balance

  • Billing Cycle

  • Billing Type

  • Bill Estimate

  • Fee Type

  • Default Billing Contact

Info Tab (Coming Soon)

From the info tab, you can manage custom field information specified by your firm administrator. Your firm administrator has the ability to configure specific custom fields to be visible in the matter header.

Budget Tab (Coming Soon)

From the budget tab, you will get an overview of the current budget amounts in comparison with the threshold budget amounts to see how much has been used. Matter budgets are configured in the "Settings" tab of the matter.

ZenKM Tab

Zen KM is the knowledge management center for entering all of your case information and associating/linking all related case information to one another.

You can also add Custom Records to your matter from the ZenKM tab.

How To Edit Matters In Bulk

On the Matters page, you can select multiple matters in the table with the checkbox. Then Click on "Bulk Actions" and select your action.

Bulk editing supports the following actions:

  • Edit Bill Estimate

  • Edit Billing Cycle

  • Edit Billing Type

  • Edit Description

  • Edit Manager

  • Edit Originator

  • Edit Role Member

  • Edit Status

  • Edit Statute Of Limitations

  • Edit LEDES Enabled

  • Edit Require UTBMS Codes

  • Edit Minimum Trust Balance

  • Edit Use Trust Account

  • Add Tags

  • Remove Tags

  • Merge Matters

Once you've selected an action from "Bulk Actions", then enter the value in the pop up window and click "Save".

You should see the items successfully updated in the table. You may need to refresh the page to view updates.
