Video Transcript:

In this video, we'll learn how to add a new matter in the system.

We'll walk through the two different ways to create a matter and then discuss the fields you'll need to complete.

Let's start with the first method.

Using the Quick Add menu.

Look at the very top navigation bar.

Next to your name.

You'll see a small + That's the Quick Add icon.

Click on it and from the drop down menu choose Matter.

This immediately opens the Matter form ready for you to fill in your details.

Another way to add a matter is directly from the Matters list page.

On the left hand navigation, click on Matters.

Once the page opens, look for the button labeled Add Matter and click it just like before.

The Matter form will appear so you can enter your information.

Now let's take a closer look at the Matter form.

Some fields are optional and some fields are required as indicated by the red bar to the left of the field label.

The required fields are Client, which you'll search and select from the drop down matter name Matter Originator.

So who has brought this matter to the firm?

Matter Manager who will be responsible for this matter and matter type also selected from the drop down and billing type.

Beyond that there are several optional fields you can complete to provide more detail.

These include Matter number which will auto generate unless you choose to enter a custom number, a description of the matter subtype, billing details such as billing cycle.

Then, Role Group allows you to assign a custom list of members and their rates to this matter tags that can be used to filter down your matters.

Billing notes, Leads options if your firm uses leads Billing in any custom fields your firm administrator has set up.

Once you've entered the required details and any optional ones that are relevant, click Save.

The system will automatically redirect you to the Matter Details page where you can view and manage everything related to your new matter.

Finally, for administrators, there's also the option to bulk import matters using a CSV file.

This is done from the Matters page by using the Import from CSV button.

It's a great option if you need to onboard a large number of matters at once.

This concludes this video on how to add a new matter.
