Overview

Law firms now have the ability to set percentages for allocating fee collections to originators and working members as general business rules for the firm, as well as for matter specific overrides.

How To Setup Allocation Fee Percentages On A Matter

  • Go to the Matters list page by clicking the Matters link in the left navigation bar.

  • Click on the matter name in the "Matter Name" column.

  • You will be redirected to a specific matter details page.

  • On the matter details page, click on the "Settings" tab.

  • On the left sidebar, click "Allocation Arrangement".

  • You will see a toggle option for "Use Firm Default".

    • In order to use matter specific override settings, toggle the "Use Firm Default" button to disable which will no longer display as blue.

  • Click the "Add Allocation Setting Line" button.

  • Fill in the Line Type. Options are Matter Originator or Charge Member.

  • Select Firm Member from Member dropdown list.

  • Enter Percentage of fees to be collected.

  • Select start invoice date (optional).

  • Select end invoice date (optional).

  • Select "Working On Case?" if necessary.

  • Click "Save".

Once you have set up your allocation arrangement, you can add more for your team.

Allocation Setting Rules

  • Allocation Fee Percentages will be applied when charges are entered for that member or when that member is the originator of a matter.

  • The invoice date options are an extra filter to only apply the arrangement line when the invoice falls in that range.

  • The "Working On Case?" option is only applicable for matter originator type, it allows the option to not create the allocation unless the user actually has a charge on the invoice.

View Allocation Arrangement Report

Once you have billed invoices and received payments for those invoices, you will be able to run the Allocation Arrangement Report to view the collections for each member.
