Finance Pro - General Ledger (Accounts) - How to navigate the chart of accounts
Navigate to accounts using the left side navigation bar.
You will land on the List tab -
This serves as your firm's chart of accounts, providing a centralized view of all firm accounts.
From here, you can easily add or import accounts, search and filter the list, review key account details and balances, and manage individual accounts
Changing Column Headers -
To change what columns are present in the grid select Settings to choose which columns you want to display.
You are also able to drag and drop columns to put them in whatever order you prefer.
To help you quickly find what you're looking for, you can use the search bar and filters at the top of the page.
Selecting the 'All Filters' option allows you to narrow the list by things like 'account type'.
Filters can be saved for future use.
The Settings Tab -
The settings tab is where you map your accounts.
Once these mappings are set up, they typically should not be changed. Adjusting account mappings can impact how transactions post to the general ledger and may affect your financial reporting. If changes are ever needed.
We strongly recommend consulting your CPA or accounting professional first to ensure everything stays accurate and in balance.
The history tab provides an audit trail of all changes made within the account section.
You can open an individual account by clicking the corresponding eye icon. At the top of the page, you'll see the account details you originally entered in the ‘add account’ form. By default, you'll land on the ledger tab. This view shows the account's current running balance, along with the complete chronological history of all activity posted to that account. Each row represents a transaction generated elsewhere in the system, such as vendor payments, journal entries, deposits, or other financial activity, and includes the transaction date type, source, and amount.
